The Water Shed is a natural offshoot of Rural Taranaki, which has been servicing the dairy industry in Taranaki for five years. Alastair Hodgkinson came into water pumping and filtration via ten years of working in the dairy industry.

Water treatment became such a growing part of what he was doing within Rural Taranaki that he and his wife Marian realised there was a need for a separate operation to deal exclusively with water treatment and to promote it beyond the dairy industry and into the wider community.  Thus The Water Shed was born.

Still operating under the umbrella of Rural Taranaki, The Water Shed has separated out this arm of the business, with its own premises at 3 High Street, New Plymouth.  Alastair and Marian saw that there was a market for covering all aspects of water treatment and chose to make The Water Shed a one-stop shop for all phases of the process.  Offering an all-encompassing service helps with decision-making and management of the whole water treatment process, as well as providing assurance that equipment and fittings for one stage of the process will be compatible with all others.
